What effect will healthcare reform have on uninsured young adults?
With the new deal on taxing "Cadallac health plans" announced yesterday, Congress is one step closer to passing healthcare reform. Although there are still some hurdles in the road, it seems very likely that it will get passed. In effort to make sure that young adults are informed about how healthcare reform will affect them, we are posting a new report from Kaiser. This report specifically focuses on uninsured young adults and how reform will help them become insured. However, the report also outlines the new mechanisms, including subsidies, for young adults to acquire health insurance.
Recently, several readers have showed interested in learning more about the possibility of insurance premiums actually increasing for many young adults, because of new age-rating rules. Although we have done several posts on this previously, we will do a new posts with a few updates in the coming days. Also recently, several of our readers have asked what are the long-term budgetary effects of reform on young adults. In the coming days, we will do a post on it as well.
In the meantime, please keep the questions coming at contactus@shoutamerica.com and take a look at the new report by Kaiser.

With financial worries on how to manage medical debt at the heart of most American families these days, health insurance may be low on your list of financial priorities, if you're not insured already. However, that could be a dangerous and costly decision in the long run. The importance of health insurance cannot be stressed enough, because if you're caught sick or in an accident without it, it could lead to even more financial stress, and even bankruptcy. Keep in mind that these are needed to assure wellness in the community.

For some young adults and teens health care requirements go beyond the usual medical care. Teens also happen to suffer from illnesses like depression, drug and alcohol related issues, behavioral issues and so on. Besides medical attention there are specific programs and camps that would do a world of good to them.
